Incident Archives - Flight 882 Review

What is Flight 882?

A short Horror experience, inspired by true events.

This is a short, psychological horror game based on true events. The stage is set on an airplane, and as a horror fan, the uniqueness of this concept instantly captured my interest.

“I miss my wife.”

The game starts off with you getting ready to head to work, but prior to doing so, you see a memorial of your late wife. Standing there, you reminisce and remember she likes to clean the kitchen. After a beautiful, bittersweet, and emotional setup you head to work, feeling that extra weight before the game even truly starts.

You play as the first officer going through their normal work routine until things start to feel off. The tension builds as you progress through the narrative, and uncover the horrifying events that happened on the flight you were helping pilot.

How is the Game?

Overall, I found this game very enjoyable for a free indie horror title. The biggest standout is the sound design used in the later half of the game when everything goes down.

I did find the voice acting on the weaker side and rather difficult to hear, but it doesn't take away from this game having good horror themed moments that had me feeling very tense.

I initially struggled with flying the plane and reached out to the dev. I didn’t quite understand the controls right away, but since my playthrough, the dev has added updates, making the control scheme more clear. Being so bad at flying the planes led to me laughing repeatedly, which only increased my enjoyment during the horror needle drop due to laughing just before it.

The games soundtrack and sound design really stand out in the second half after everything goes poorly during the flight.

Do I recommend Incident Archives Flight 882?

Yes, this game subverts your expectations in the second half, and has a very strong sense of being trapped. Since it takes place on a plane, it amplifies the tension of whether or not you’ll make it off the flight alive. It’s a fun concept for being a free title on Steam.
