Voidface Review

What is Voidface?

A non-stop gauntlet of Boss Battles.

This handcrafted, indie bullet hell will truly tests the limits of the player’s ability to advance to the next level. Voidface advertises itself as having every in-game enemy be a boss fight.

The game greatly succeeds at making every boss encounter feel truly unique! With a brutal gameplay curve, it even tested my own limits as a player. Also, the developer made sure to include accessibility options to let players to still experience the game if the difficulty is too daunting, allowing you to select between “hard” or “easy” with more balanced attack patterns.

Example of the Dev adding difficulty settings so you don’t have to suffer.

The magic system is addicting.

The biggest standout in Voidface is its fast paced magic system. You input specific arrow directions to activate special abilities, spells, and regenerative powers to assist with the boss encounters. Since this game is an incredibly fast-paced bullet hell, the spell casting can be a double- edged sword. It can easily cause you to mess up, improperly activate your magic, or even die while being distracted during the casting.

The character design is fairly straightforward. The bosses having simpler visual designs allows the game to not feel too cluttered graphically, keeping the feel of the game well balanced. Breaking armor and pieces off of bosses is a secondary mechanic of the game that allows for higher damage and progression. This makes the player want to attempt a more aggressive playstyle.

The games soundtrack pairs incredibly well with the super quick action without feeling grating or repetitive on multiple boss attempts. You will die quite often, so to have a fantastic soundtrack backing the addicting gameplay loop makes the game’s repetition enjoyable.

Do I recommend Voidface?

Absolutely. This game is a fantastic spin on the bullet hell genre while also having it’s own unique flair with it’s bosses and magic system. It is also approachable for newcomers as well with it’s difficulty settings. For only $8.99, you cannot get much better than what this game offers. I could find myself returning to play again.
